Lip Blushing

Add A Flush Of Color & Definition To Your Lips

Lip blushing is a form of cosmetic tattooing that enhances both the color and shape of your lips, creating the appearance of added volume. It’s a great alternative to dermal fillers—or a perfect complement to them. During the procedure, pigment is carefully implanted into the lips to improve their overall look.

This treatment helps define the lips and can address a variety of concerns, including an undefined lip shape, uneven coloring, poorly defined vermillion borders, asymmetry, scars, birthmarks, or the appearance of a cleft lip.

There are different levels of color intensity to suit your desired look—from the subtle “nude effect,” to the softly tinted “aquarelle effect,” all the way to the bold, high-saturation “lipstick effect.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Lip Blushing Painful?

Unlike getting a permanent tattoo, pain during the lip blushing process is minimal. I will apply a topical numbing agent during the procedure and the needle is so gentle that anything you feel from the needle will be slight.

Lip blushing is for anyone interested in enhancing the definition, shape, or color of their lips. The procedure produces the most improvement for those with uneven or pale lip color. It is completely safe and anyone can undergo the lip blushing procedure.

Lip blush adds a soft, semi-permanent wash of color to the lips, enhancing their natural shape and tone. It delivers a more effortless, natural-looking result that lasts far longer than conventional lip makeup.

To get the best results from your lip blushing appointment, it’s important to prepare in advance. In the days leading up to your session, keep your lips well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water and regularly applying a nourishing lip balm. Gently exfoliate your lips a day or two beforehand to remove any dry or flaky skin. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood-thinning medications like aspirin or ibuprofen for at least 24 hours prior, as these can increase sensitivity and the risk of bleeding. If you’re prone to cold sores, talk to your doctor about taking antiviral medication beforehand, as the procedure can trigger a flare-up. Arrive with clean, makeup-free lips, and be ready to relax during your appointment!

Lip blush typically lasts anywhere from one to three years, though the exact duration varies from person to person. Factors like your skin type, daily habits, aftercare routine, and even your metabolism all play a role in how long the pigment stays vibrant. While some individuals may notice longer-lasting results, others may experience fading a bit sooner. To keep your lips looking fresh and defined, I recommend scheduling a touch-up once a year.

While lip blush is considered semi-permanent, it can be lightened or removed if desired. Removal options include saline tattoo removal, which gradually lifts the pigment from the skin, or laser treatments that break down the pigment over a series of sessions. It’s important to note that removal can be a longer process and may require multiple appointments depending on the pigment depth and your skin’s response.
